Wendy Peacock - Everyday Language Solutions
Engaging and communicating with communities who would otherwise be unheard.
Why did you decide to become a Community Champion?
Our linguist team provides us with an ideal opportunity to help engage communities who otherwise would be excluded. We utilise their skills and community links to support Healthwatch in communicating and engaging inclusively across the locality.
When the opportunity arose to become a Champion, I was more than happy to lend my skills to the Healthwatch team.
How does your role help people in South Tees?
Our Charity provides Interpreting and Translation services across the North East. As Director, I feel it's important to work with local marginalised communities and give them the same opportunities that others have.
If language and social exclusion is a barrier, we can help to build bridges.
